Akedemia Publications exists to move serious work out of the file folder and onto shelves, syllabi and citation lists — without asking authors to give up control of it.
Our story
In 2009 three commissioning editors left larger houses for the same reason: the manuscripts they most wanted to publish were the ones the acquisition committees would not look at. Not because the scholarship was weak, but because the audience was measured in thousands rather than millions.
Akedemia was built for exactly those books. Seventeen years on we publish across nine disciplines, run peer review on every academic title, and hold to a simple rule: an author should always know where their manuscript is and what happens next.
We are a publisher, not a printing service. We say no to work that is not ready — and when we say yes, we put the whole house behind it.

You license us to publish. You do not sign your work away, and you can see the terms before you talk to us.

A book that only sells in its country of origin has not really been published. We supply libraries and retailers in 120+ countries.
The backlist stays alive
We keep titles in print and in catalogue for as long as there are readers, not for as long as the sales curve is steep.
